Our dogs have always been members of our family. We know how tough it is leaving your furry friend somewhere new. We also know how amazing it feels to be able to relax and enjoy being away knowing they are having as much fun (and maybe more) fun than you.
That’s why we offer your fur baby a really special experience here at Wicklow Pet Hotel. After 13 years in the pet minding arena we have so much knowledge of what dogs need to have a stress-free and enjoyable experience on their holiday. Most importantly is plenty of time to play chase or ball with the other dogs, or simply potter and explore, always in the company of our experienced Pet Hotel team.
Our doggie accommodation is in our large back garden.
The chalets are built in a courtyard design, all facing onto one of our three play areas. Each timber chalet is insulated, heated, tiled and painted and are of varying sizes. Each has a sliding access door to a covered outdoor area.
Our play areas have either real or artificial grass. We have lots of pools, a new doggie deck, a digging den, an obstacle course and lots of areas to explore.
We can separate our doggie guests into small groups if needed. We often have a group of puppies staying, so they may have one area to themselves to play chasing together, and not be bumping into some of our older guests. The play areas allow great flexibility.
Each play area has a huge range of toys, teddies and tennis balls available. In addition to free play, the morning’s activities include playing fetch and ‘treat time’. Our canine kitchen is always open so our guests can potter in and out or come and take a nap under the sink. This provides a real ‘home away from home’ feel for our guests, who are almost exclusively dogs who live indoors with their family.
Because we allow all the dogs to mix together we specialise in certain breeds and type of dogs such as Cockapoos, Cavapoos, Cavaliers, Bichons, Maltese, Shih Tzus, Yorkshire Terriers, Jack Russell’s, West Highland Terriers, Labradoodles, Pugs, Mini Schnauzers, Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, Retrievers and Labradors.
Some dogs, just by their nature may not be suited to this type of free play (see our FAQ section ‘How do I know if my dogs will be suited to Wicklow Pet Hotel?’).
